Commissioning an original portrait is a personal decision. For many people, an animal is far more than just a pet. They are part of the family, part of everyday life, and often part of some of our most treasured memories.
My portraits are created to capture more than a likeness. I want to capture the character, expression and presence that makes your animal unmistakably them.
Each portrait is drawn and painted by hand, using professional-grade materials and archival fine art papers, boards or canvas. Every finished artwork is professionally mounted and framed, ready to hang and enjoy for years to come.
I accept a limited number of commissions each year so that I can give each portrait the time and attention it deserves.
The Commission Process
Enquiry & Planning
Get in touch and share a selection of photographs of your animal, along with anything you'd like me to know about them. Their personality, quirks, history or simply what you love most about them can all help me understand the subject I'm creating.
We'll discuss your ideas and I'll consider the composition, scale and overall approach, taking into account both your animal and where you intend to display the finished portrait.
Creation
Once your commission is booked in your portrait is then created by hand, with particular attention given to expression, detail, texture and the individual characteristics that make your animal unique.
Presentation & Delivery
Once complete, your artwork is professionally mounted and framed, carefully packaged and delivered ready to take its place in your home.
Subjects
I specialise in portraits of horses and dogs, with other animals considered by request.
Whether it is a much-loved family dog, a horse who has been part of your life for many years, or a special companion you'd like to remember, each portrait is created on an individual basis to honour their life.
